We were 180 meters underground, on the tour to the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral, in front of this amazing sculpture, something I had never seen before, a cross, the largest in the world carved in salt, 16 meters high and 10 meters wide; with beautiful colors and perfect lighting that gave a touch of elegance to the place; the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral, I never imagined that a mix of salt crosses and lights everywhere; would become one of the most amazing experiences I had ever had in my life, when Daniel our guide explained to us what that gigantic cross was made of I smiled; I couldn’t believe it.

The particular smell of the place, the immense sinkholes; the route of the Stations of the Cross, the dome and the central nave of the underground church; They reminded me that the world is full of amazing surprises and that with a lot of creativity something as banal as a salt mine that had been worked hard by local and religious miners can transcend and become a wonder.

“The first wonder of Colombia!” the guide told us when we arrived.
